Solo 1, recorded in 2022, was OTP’s first exploration of writing a standalone drum piece. It was developed with the guidance of his first teacher Leigh, combining the aforementioned influences of Latin.

This piece sparked his interest in the melodic capabilities of the drums and defined the beginning of a long and treacherous journey into his instrument.

After a small hiatus from solo writing OTP decided to have another crack at it with Solo 2: The Story of a Sweaty Drummer recorded in 2025. This solo focusses on slowly building momentum by layering different melodic and rhythmic ideas to build a latin inspired first half.

This piece also explores more traditional heavy rock and metal grooves with a section of consistent double kick drumming.

Solo 3: Perfectionist, is OTP’s latest exploration of his individual limits behind the kit. This solo has was meticulously written to combine his latin and metal influences as well as the exploration of a new found love in odd time signatures.

This piece often finds itself in a combination of 4/4 time and 7/8, demonstrating the development of his limb independence. Melody has also been a focal point of his third solo, using the toms in unique ways to make then “sing”. Rhythmic themes have be scattered throughout and can be heard in multiple sections and across different parts of the kit.
